IZOD INDYCAR SERIES
NOTES AND QUOTES, PRE-RACE
INDY JAPAN 300

DANICA PATRICK, #7 TEAM GoDaddy.com CAR
“I always look forward to going back to Japan for the race. I love everything about Japan — the culture, the people — everything. The race will always hold a special place in my heart since I got my first win there. Hopefully, we can get the GoDaddy car into the winner’s circle again this year and get win number two under our belt.”

MARCO ANDRETTI, #26 TEAM VENOM ENERGY DRINK CAR
“I’m looking forward to returning to Twin Ring (Motegi). The fans are always great and it’s a great circuit. We haven’t had the best results there yet with the Venom car; I’m hoping this is the year we can make things happen.”

RYAN HUNTER-REAY, #37 TEAM IZOD CAR
“Twin Ring Motegi is a very special and unique event on our schedule. It is one of the most difficult tracks we will race on this year and getting the car set-up right is extremely tricky. The two sides of the racetrack are so different; it really keeps you on your toes. It’s great to be able to race at Honda’s track in front of their fans. They do such an amazing job powering these IZOD IndyCars and their fans are so passionate about IndyCar racing. “For Team IZOD, we just need to go out and get a solid qualifying spot and go to work in the race. We have been pretty strong in every oval race this year; I think Motegi will be the same. With only two races remaining every point is extremely important and we’re looking to make up for some points lost at Kentucky.”

TONY KANAAN, #11 TEAM 7-ELEVEN CAR
“Motegi is probably the toughest oval we race on all year. Each end of the racetrack is so different that you can’t really find a perfect balance. You have to pick two corners where you want to be really good and then make the best of the other two. The fans there are crazy and so passionate. Winning there in the Team 7-Eleven was very special and I always love going back every year.”

NOTES AND QUOTES, PRE-RACE
KENTUCKY INDY 300

DANICA PATRICK, #7 TEAM GoDaddy.com CAR
“Kentucky is a track that requires you to have a car that really works, if you want to be able to go on the outside. It’s ideal to have a car that works well around the bottom because if you’re fast around the bottom, it’s going to be really hard for someone to pass you. But, if you can run up high, then you have options. Hopefully, we can get the GoDaddy car to do the things we want it to do.”

MARCO ANDRETTI, #26 TEAM MEIJER CAR
“We tested well in Kentucky a couple weeks ago and I’ve had podium finishes here in the past so I’m optimistic that the Meijer car will be a contender this weekend. We need to keep the momentum from Chicago going and I think the three remaining ovals should give a good opportunity to end the season on a high note.”

RYAN HUNTER-REAY, #37 TEAM IZOD CAR
“We had a good, productive test at Kentucky a few weeks back and I’m looking forward to the payoff this weekend. As a team, Andretti Autosport has worked very hard to raise its game on the ovals this year and we’re seeing the benefits of that hard work. It’s great to go to the track every week knowing that Team IZOD will have something to say about the outcome and I expect more of the same at Kentucky.”

TONY KANAAN, #11 TEAM 7-ELEVEN CAR
“Kentucky changes every year. Because of the weather they have over the winter there, it gets bumpier every year. The asphalt changes and that’s why they have different lines there. You can run on the bottom, but if your car works better over the bumps you can go up higher. It’s kind of like Chicagoland, but it’s a lot more challenging. You have to have a better-balanced car at Kentucky to win the race.”

PEAK ANTIFREEZE & MOTOR OIL INDY 300

DANICA PATRICK, #7 TEAM GoDaddy.com CAR
“I’m really looking forward to getting back on an oval. I like Chicagoland and am ready for that style of racing again. It’s seems like it’s been forever. I’ve had some good results there and I hope this weekend is another one of those weekends for the GoDaddy car.”

MARCO ANDRETTI, #26 TEAM VENOM ENERGY DRINK CAR
“There is going to be a pretty full field this weekend and everyone has been so competitive. It should make for a fun race. I’m looking forward to getting back in the Venom car on an oval, for sure, and hopefully having a strong finish to show for it.”

RYAN HUNTER-REAY, #37 TEAM ETHANOL USA- IZOD CAR
“I’m looking forward to getting back in the Ethanol USA-Team IZOD car this weekend at Chicagoland. We had a good test at Kentucky recently and hopefully that will pay off for us. We need to make the most of these last four races and that starts Saturday night.”

TONY KANAAN, #11 TEAM 7-ELEVEN/ PLANTERS CAR
“Someone told me I was the last driver to win on an oval and that doesn’t seem possible because the race at Iowa (Speedway) was so long ago. But, it sounded good to hear that and hopefully we can make it work out again for Team 7-Eleven. It’s going to be tough, like always, but we’ll be ready to go.”

INDY GRAND PRIX OF SONOMA

DANICA PATRICK, #7 TEAM GoDaddy.com CAR
“I always enjoy getting back to the track in Sonoma. The circuit provides a unique combination of elevation changes and types of corners. We always seem to have exciting races there and I’m sure we’ll be able to put on a great show for the fans this weekend. On top of that, wine country is one of my favorite places to visit on the entire schedule. It’s a beautiful part of the country and I always enjoy being in the area.”

MARCO ANDRETTI, #26 TEAM VENOM ENERGY DRINK CAR
“I really love driving at Infineon and I’ve had success there. It would be great to get my second career win this weekend in the Venom car. I think the team as a whole should have a strong showing.”

RYAN HUNTER-REAY, #37 TEAM IZOD CAR
“It’s hard to believe we are already going into the last road course of the 2010 season. We still have a shot at second in the road course championship standings; that’s our goal. Unfortunately, we were unable to make it out to last Friday’s test session in Sonoma, but the Andretti Autosport cars were pretty quick there last year in qualifying, so we’re optimistic, regardless. We’ll have about 400 corporate guests coming to the track this weekend, so this would be a great time for Team IZOD to get its second win of the season.”

TONY KANAAN, #11 TEAM 7-ELEVEN/DR PEPPER CHERRY CAR
“It’s always great to go back to a track where you’ve won before. But, 2005 seems like a long time ago, so we need to get another win there to freshen up the memories. The series is so competitive right now on the road courses that a win now at Infineon would probably be even more special than what it was back then. We just need to take what we’ve learned and use it to our benefit this weekend.”

HONDA INDY 200

DANICA PATRICK, #7 TEAM GoDaddy.com CAR (ANDRETTI AUTOSPORT)
“We tested the GoDaddy car at Mid-Ohio last week and the test pretty well. I feel like we were able to get some good data that we can use throughout this weekend. Your starting position is so important at a place like Mid-Ohio, so hopefully we can get off to a good start on Friday and keep it going through the weekend.”

MARCO ANDRETTI, #26 TEAM VENOM ENERGY DRINK CAR (ANDRETTI AUTOSPORT)
“I’m optimistic for Mid-Ohio this weekend. I think the Venom car and the team as a whole had a strong test last week. We’re looking for a breakthrough weekend and I think we’re capable of it.”

ADAM CARROLL, #27 TEAM AUTOMATIC FIRE SPRINKLERS CAR (AFS RACING /ANDRETTI AUTOSPORT)
“I’m really looking forward to racing this weekend. It’ll be good to go back to a circuit I know, after testing at Mid-Ohio. I hope I can get up to speed earlier this time and just build on the whole weekend. I would like to thank Automatic Fire Sprinklers, AFS Racing and Andretti Autosport for this opportunity to race. I expect it to be a tough and physical race, but hopefully I can come out with a good result.”

RYAN HUNTER-REAY, #37 TEAM IZOD CAR (ANDRETTI AUTOSPORT)
“I’m really looking forward to heading back to the track I feel is the heart of road racing in America, Mid-Ohio. I’ve had some breakthrough races at this track over the years beginning with Skip Barber as a teenager. I really enjoy it. I’m pretty optimistic about the upcoming weekend. We need to push to bring the Team IZOD car closer to the top three in the championship. As a team we are working very well together and we hope to keep our momentum moving in the right direction.”

TONY KANAAN, #11 TEAM 7-ELEVEN CAR (ANDRETTI AUTOSPORT)
“It was great to have a chance to test the 7-Eleven car at Mid-Ohio last week, so close to the race weekend. We don’t get many opportunities to test as it is, and especially not this close to when it really counts. Now, we have to take what we learned and make it work for us. Most of us have a lot of laps and a lot of experience at Mid-Ohio, so no one is going to be fooled there. To be successful, you’re going to have to earn it, for sure.”

NOTES AND QUOTES, PRE-RACE
HONDA INDY EDMONTON

DANICA PATRICK, #7 TEAM GoDaddy.com CAR
“The GoDaddy team is coming off of a good weekend in Toronto and I’m hoping for another strong finish this weekend at Edmonton. This track is equally as challenging as Toronto, but in different ways. We have struggled there in the past as a team, but we have also improved our road course program.”

MARCO ANDRETTI, #26 TEAM VENOM ENERGY DRINK CAR
“I think it will be a challenging weekend but we’re coming ready for it. Edmonton is a fun track to drive and the fans are very supportive. Hopefully the Venom car can put on a good show for them and finish strong.”

RYAN HUNTER-REAY, #37 TEAM IZOD CAR
“Edmonton is very physical and certainly tough, especially coming on the heels of Toronto, which is also a very physical course. Edmonton has some big curbs that you’ve got to hop and I’m not looking forward to that with this ‘thumb thing’ going on. But it is what it is. I know the Team IZOD guys will have another good car for me to drive and we’ll hope for a good finish.”

TONY KANAAN, #11 TEAM 7-ELEVEN CAR
“We need to keep it going this week. As a team, we really made a good stride at Toronto and that should help. We have not had good luck or good performances at Edmonton in the past, but it’s up to us to change that. This year is a new year and we are better, for sure.”

HONDA INDY TORONTO

DANICA PATRICK, #7 TEAM GoDaddy.com CAR
“This is a tough stretch of the season, for sure. We have several challenging races in a row here and Toronto is certainly one of them. I’m sure it will be extremely competitive and just a tenth-of-a-second here and there will make a huge difference in what kind of result you have. We’ll keep working as hard as we can on the GoDaddy car and see what happens this weekend.”

MARCO ANDRETTI, #26 TEAM VENOM ENERGY DRINK CAR
“Toronto is such a great circuit. I really enjoy driving it, and there’s so much history in racing there for us. My father (Michael) won in Toronto seven times; it would be good to put one more win up for the family. The Venom car has potential to be a contender and finish strong this weekend. We’re coming back this year as just a team — not the promoter, as well — and I think that should really give us a chance to focus more on the cars and winning.”

RYAN HUNTER-REAY, #37 TEAM IZOD CAR
“The Honda Indy Toronto is just a great event.  It seems every time we race in Canada it’s a fantastic race. The Canadian fans are so supportive and passionate about their racing and it really makes it fun for the drivers. I enjoy Toronto; I won my first Barber Dodge Pro Series race there and I can’t get enough of the city.
“Coming off a win in the last street circuit we visited (Long Beach), Team IZOD has high hopes for this weekend. We’ve got lots of work to do and I’m really looking forward to another street race.”

TONY KANAAN, #11 TEAM 7-ELEVEN/NESTLÉ PURE LIFE CAR
“The circuit in Toronto makes for great racing and we saw that in last year’s race. As a team, we are very motivated to run well this weekend and contend for the win. This is a point in the season where we really need to keep pushing and get everything we can. We can’t afford to give up any more ground in the championship.”

CAMPING WORLD GRAND PRIX AT THE GLEN

DANICA PATRICK, #7 TEAM GoDaddy.com CAR
“As a team overall, we have really put together several good races in a row and now we just need to keep it going at Watkins Glen. It’s a challenging circuit and I know how competitive it’s going to be, but hopefully we can get the GoDaddy car the way we want it and get this stretch of road and street courses off to a good start.”

MARCO ANDRETTI, #26 TEAM VENOM ENERGY DRINK CAR
“The Glen is as close as it gets to a hometown race for me. It’s great to see all the fan support each year. We’ve run decent here in the past and have had some solid finishes. Right now we need to get as many championship points as possible. A win this weekend would send us in the right direction.”

ADAM CARROLL, #27 TEAM BOOST MOBILE CAR
“I’m really excited to get in a car. It’s been a long process, but it was worth it. It’s my first race in 14 months. To race with Andretti Autosport is pretty fantastic. To have a sponsor like Boost Mobile for my first race is brilliant as well. I can’t wait to get stuck in and give it everything I’ve got, and hopefully we can come out with a good result. I’m looking forward to getting around the circuit for the test and race. I’ve been checking out on-board videos and the track looks fast. Thank you to the whole Andretti Autosport team for giving me this chance. I’m excited to start my first race in America; hopefully my first of many.”

RYAN HUNTER-REAY, #37 TEAM IZOD CAR
“This place and this race are so special to me for so many reasons – the biggest being my breakout IZOD IndyCar win with Rahal a couple years back. That was also the same weekend my mother was diagnosed with cancer. We also announced the personal services deal with IZOD that weekend, which was the beginning of a great partnership as we won right out of the gate together.”
“I first raced this track when I was 17 and fell in love right away. I have to say, though, I’m just relieved and thrilled to be back in the #37 car to keep our strong season going. The past month has been tough on the team putting the proper funds in place, but they’re the best at what they do. I really have to thank Michael (Andretti) for stepping up and keeping me in the seat. This is a championship-winning team and I couldn’t be hungrier to get our second win of the season and push for title contention.”

TONY KANAAN, #11 TEAM 7-ELEVEN CAR
“It feels very good to be heading into a race weekend as the most-recent winner, I can tell you that. Watkins Glen is going to be so competitive. It’s not the kind of place where you can just get by with being good. To win, you’re going to need to be perfect, I think, because there will be so many cars capable of winning. I expect Team 7-Eleven to be right in there with the best of them and hopefully things will go our way.”

IOWA CORN INDY 250

DANICA PATRICK, #7 TEAM GoDaddy.com CAR
“We are coming off strong results in the past two races, so I’m hopeful the GoDaddy car will be competitive again this weekend in Iowa. I enjoy racing there and the race brings out a lot of fans, which is always great. It’s always easier going into a race weekend with some momentum on your side.”

MARCO ANDRETTI, #26 TEAM VENOM ENERGY DRINK CAR
“Iowa is a unique circuit. We’ve had success running there in the past and we’re coming off of two consecutive podium finishes, so I’m optimistic that the Venom car will be a contender, for sure. Hopefully we can keep the momentum going this weekend and gain some needed championship points.”

RYAN HUNTER-REAY, #37 TEAM IZOD CAR
“I’m thrilled to be racing on and proud to be representing U.S. ethanol again. After Texas, our goal was to get to Iowa and that’s what we’ve accomplished. Now, we need to take advantage of the opportunity that Ethanol USA has given to me and the Team IZOD guys. I’ve said all along that this is a great race team and we can win a lot of races together. We just need that chance and this weekend is our next shot.”

TONY KANAAN, #11 TEAM 7-ELEVEN CAR
“I love the track and I love the fans at Iowa. The place is always packed – beyond packed – with people everywhere. It is a track that races both like a short track and a super-speedway, so it is a lot of fun to drive. We just haven’t had any luck there yet with the 7-Eleven car. But, there is always another chance and I get that chance this weekend.”

FIRESTONE 550K

DANICA PATRICK, #7 TEAM GoDaddy.com CAR
-Has scored one top five and three top 10s at Texas in three starts for Andretti Autosport.
“I always like getting back to Texas. It’s a great track and the fans are always excited to see us.  The GoDaddy.com team is coming off a good weekend at Indy, so we plan to use every bit of that as motivation for a strong run at Texas.”

MARCO ANDRETTI, #26 TEAM VENOM ENERGY DRINK CAR
-Finished fourth at Texas last year and threatened to win the 2008 event before being sidelined by a late-race incident.
“Texas is a fast track that really forces drivers to be on their game. We’ve been able to run well there in the past and the Venom car had a strong run in Indy, so I’m optimistic that we’ll be competitive this weekend.”

RYAN HUNTER-REAY, #37 TEAM IZOD CAR
-Will race at Texas after undergoing surgery on Monday to repair torn ligaments in his left thumb.
“Everything with my thumb has gone as well as it can so far and I’ll be ready to go this weekend at Texas. The medical staff has done a great job and I have all the faith in the world that they’ll have me in a position to race the way I need to at Texas.”

TONY KANAAN, #11 TEAM 7-ELEVEN CAR
-Owns a win (2004), five top-threes and six top-fives in nine career Texas starts.
“I’m ready to go. Indy was very tough, obviously, but I think we learned a lot about ourselves and we can take a lot of that with us going forward, beginning this weekend. Racing at Texas is always very mentally demanding, but it’s also going to be very hot, so it’s going to be physically tough, as well. I think we’re up for the challenge, though.”

IZOD INDYCAR SERIES
NOTES AND QUOTES, PRE-RACE
ROAD RUNNER TURBO INDY 300

DANICA PATRICK, #7 TEAM GoDaddy.com CAR
* A former Kansas pole winner, Patrick finished fifth there last season.
“I’m ready to race on an oval, for sure. Kansas is a place that I feel very comfortable, and I think it’s coming at a very good time for me and the GoDaddy team. The series has been so competitive this year and I know that won’t be any different this weekend. But, I do think that Kansas will provide me with a good opportunity to get back up front.”

JOHN ANDRETTI, #43 TEAM WINDOW WORLD CAR
* Set to make his 2010 IZOD IndyCar Series debut this weekend at Kansas in his first start for Andretti Autosport.
“This is a really special opportunity for me – getting to drive for my cousin, getting to race on the same team with Marco, getting to work with a race team that just won a couple weeks ago and an organization that has won a lot of races. This is such a great opportunity to come here and participate in a positive way – not only from the race-team side, but also with Window World and all their great support.

“I feel a little bit like I’m 16 years old. I’m going to get out there, roll up my sleeves and maybe even reach deeper to get more and make the most of what is a short-term opportunity, but a great one, nonetheless.”

MARCO ANDRETTI, #26 TEAM VENOM ENERGY DRINK CAR
* Currently 12th in the series standings, just six points from ninth.
“Kansas is a good circuit to get us back on ovals and ready for Indy.  We were able to finish sixth there last year and had a decent season overall on ovals so I’m optimistic we can build on that for a strong finish this weekend.  We just need the Venom car to have the speed necessary turn the season around and start our climb in points. I’d really like to head into May comfortably inside the top 10.”

RYAN HUNTER-REAY, #37 TEAM IZOD CAR
* Heads to Kansas ranked third in the series standings after scoring a dominating win at Long Beach on April 18.
“I’m definitely looking forward to having some fun turning left. That’s what I love about the IZOD IndyCar Series is that you’re always changing up disciplines of racing. You go from a permanent road course to a temporary street circuit to a mile-and-a-half super speedway. That’s what makes this series what it is. It’s the only racing series in the world that does that. It’s really cool. I’m looking forward to it. I think it’ll be my best opportunity in oval equipment that I’ve ever had.”

TONY KANAAN, #11 TEAM 7-ELEVEN CAR
* A former winner at Kansas, Kanaan is coming off a season-best fifth-place finish at Long Beach.
“I’m ready to go. It’s time to do some oval racing and I’m looking forward to it. As a team, we have shown a good improvement in our road- and street-course program and hopefully that will carry over to the ovals, starting this weekend at Kansas for Team 7-Eleven.”

TOYOTA GRAND PRIX OF LONG BEACH

DANICA PATRICK, #7 TEAM GoDaddy.com CAR
* Drove to a fourth-place finish at Long Beach in 2009, sparking a run of four-straight top-five results

“Long Beach is a challenging race, but I’m up for it. It’s been a rough start to the season, no question, with all the road and street courses. But, the whole GoDaddy.com crew has been working really hard to get us where we want to be and hopefully we can start to turn things around this weekend.”

MARCO ANDRETTI, #26 TEAM VENOM ENERGY DRINK CAR
* Led 58 of 90 laps last weekend on the way to a season-best fifth-place finish

“After the race in Barber I’m really optimistic for Long Beach this weekend. I think we’re on to something with the Venom car. We were able to show that we’re competitive and it’s a great feeling both for me and for the crew. We can finally taste it and I’m confident we can get all the pieces to fall together.”

RYAN HUNTER-REAY, #37 TEAM IZOD CAR
* Will pull double-duty at Long Beach this weekend, running in both the IZOD IndyCar Series for Andretti Autosport and in the American Le Mans Series for Level 5 Motorsports

(ON RUNNING IN BOTH SERIES THIS WEEKEND) “I guess I’m ‘old school.’ I’d rather be racing than doing anything else, so if I have a chance to run another during the weekend, that’s fine with me. Don’t get me wrong — it’s demanding, but it’s workable. We don’t have a lot of track time in the ALMS car this weekend, so I can handle it. You probably wouldn’t sign on for it every weekend or at every track, but we’ll be fine this weekend.”

(ON RUNNING AT LONG BEACH) “Long Beach is one of the cornerstones of our sport. If this were golf, I think Long Beach would be one of the ‘majors.’ It has so much heritage, so much history and such a great vibe. I don’t think there is a single driver that doesn’t want to have a Long Beach win on their resume. It means that much.”

TONY KANAAN, #11 TEAM 7-ELEVEN CAR

* Heads to Long Beach ranked ninth in the IZOD IndyCar Series championship standings

“I’m very excited for Long Beach. It’s a great event and one that you always look forward to. Team 7-Eleven is much better than what you see in our results from the first three races, and I think the same could be said for the whole Andretti Autosport team. We’re doing what we need to do; we just need to do it a little bit better and get a couple more things to go our way. We’re right there.”

ANDRETTI AUTOSPORT

INDY GRAND PRIX OF ALABAMA

DANICA PATRICK, #7 TEAM GoDaddy.com CAR

* Drove from 21st to seventh in the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on March 28.
“The GoDaddy car had a strong finish in St. Pete, so we are definitely going to use that momentum going into Barber.  Track position will play a big role again this weekend, so hopefully we can get the car comfortable right away so we can focus on getting the car fast.  As a whole, the team has worked really hard over the off-season to get the Andretti Autosport cars back in the competitive spotlight so I hope that all the hard work shows this weekend.”

MARCO ANDRETTI, #26 TEAM VENOM ENERGY DRINK CAR

* Qualified sixth but finished 12th in the last race at St. Petersburg after suffering a cut tire midway through the event.
“The Venom car has caught some rough luck the first two races and I think we’re a lot better than 17th in points shows.  We had a great start to the race in St. Pete and a strong car in Brazil but the circumstances have left us with unfortunate results.  We’ve learned a lot so far this season and we’ve had great improvements over where we were in 2009.  I think we can take everything we’ve learned and really apply it at Barber this weekend.  We had a decent test there back in February and it’s a circuit where I enjoy driving. I’m hoping this will be the race where we can turn things around for the No. 26 car.”

RYAN HUNTER-REAY, #37 TEAM IZOD CAR

* Currently tied for second in the IZOD IndyCar Series championship standings.
“Although not an oval, Barber is very different from our first two rounds of the championship in Sao Paulo and St. Pete.  This track requires a completely different approach and after the open test we are coming with some pretty significant changes to the set-up on the IZOD car.  Once again we just need to focus on steady and gradual progress through the event and do another solid job on Sunday.  The Andretti Autosport boys have been amazing in the pits as well, which is another weapon in our weekly fight for the championship.”

TONY KANAAN, #11 TEAM 7-ELEVEN CAR

* Salvaged a 10th place finish at St. Petersburg after sustaining a broken front wing midway through the race.
“In a way, we have been somewhat fortunate to salvage two top 10s out of the first two weeks considering we’ve had some things go wrong. But, we can’t be satisfied with that heading into Barber. We need to get going and put some good results together if we want to stay in this thing. Barber is going to be one of those places where track position is everything, so you’d better not put yourself in a bad position. The easiest way to get track position is to be fast, qualify up front and race up front, and that’s what Team 7-Eleven is going to try to do.”

HONDA GRAND PRIX OF ST. PETERSBURG

DANICA PATRICK, #7 TEAM GoDaddy.com CAR

* Posted a run of three-straight top-10 finishes at St. Petersburg (2006-2008) until contact from another car sidelined her early in last year’s event.

“It’s always nice to come back to a track at which you’ve competed before. I’m especially looking forward to returning to St. Petersburg, because it’s such an exciting atmosphere. There’s always a huge crowd and the fans know so much about the IZOD IndyCar Series. Plus, Tim Ramsberger and his team do a fantastic job promoting and executing the race. It really has become a world-class event. With everything that I’ve been doing thus far in 2010, I think it will be great to get back to a place with which I’m familiar. Hopefully, we can get the GoDaddy.com car off to a good start Friday and build on it from there.”

MARCO ANDRETTI, #26 TEAM VENOM ENERGY DRINK CAR

* A former Firestone Indy Lights race winner at St. Petersburg (2005), Andretti also has one front-row start and one top-five finish (fourth) in an IZOD IndyCar Series car, both coming in 2007.

“I have high hopes for Team Venom Energy this weekend. I’ve always enjoyed the St. Pete circuit and I won there in Firestone Indy Lights so I’m confident that we can be successful. I was really pleased with our car in Brazil and, had we been able to race, I really do believe we would have been a contender at the finish. The team as a whole had strong cars and some bad luck, but I think Ryan’s finish was a great energy boost for everyone. It was our first race as the new team and we were able to show that we have four cars and four drivers capable of running up front.”

RYAN HUNTER-REAY, #37 TEAM IZOD CAR

* Coming off a second-place finish at the March 14th season-opener in Sao Paulo and is looking to build on last year’s runner-up finish at St. Petersburg.

“St. Petersburg is one on my favorite events of the year for a number of reasons. Most importantly, I love the track layout which makes for some great racing. The Tampa/St. Pete area is exactly my speed and it’s only a three-hour drive from home in Ft. Lauderdale, so it’s pretty much a home race to kick off the U.S. races. This will be my fourth St. Pete event and each time I find myself getting closer and closer to the front. After finishing a close-second last year we have our sights set on winning.
“Brazil was a great result for the IZOD team. Obviously, we feel it was a win that got away, so we are extremely determined to grab our first win together in St. Pete. The IZOD guys did a fantastic job in the pits and proved it by winning the pit crew challenge. We just need to go into St. Pete with the same mindset as Brazil and just concentrate on doing a consistent and solid job all weekend.”

TONY KANAAN, #11 TEAM 7-ELEVEN CAR

* Stands as the only driver in the IZOD IndyCar Series to complete every lap of competition at St. Petersburg during the series’ five trips to the temporary downtown street circuit.

“The race in Sao Paulo gave us all a reason to feel like we are headed in the right direction. It’s hard for me to say that I had a car capable of winning, but we were certainly going to at least have something to say about it at the end. Team 7-Eleven just needs a little better luck and maybe that will go in our favor this weekend at St. Pete.”

NOTES AND QUOTES, PRE-RACE
SAO PAULO INDY 300

DANICA PATRICK, #7 TEAM GO DADDY.COM CAR:

* Coming off a career-best fifth-place finish in the 2009 series standings

* 2009 season featured five top-five finishes, including a third-place result in the Indianapolis 500

“Competing on a new circuit is always a challenge. Not only are you working throughout the weekend on the set-up of the race car, but you also have to learn a new track, as well. It’s hard enough to make sure the car is dialed-in, so drivers really have to maintain their focus to not only prepare for the race from a technical standpoint, but also become familiar with each and every turn on the track. Hopefully, we’ll get the Go Daddy.com car comfortable right away and get off to a good start.”

MARCO ANDRETTI, #26 TEAM VENOM ENERGY DRINK CAR

* Will turn 23 years old on Saturday (March 13) as he prepares to start his fifth season of IZOD IndyCar Series competition (65 starts)
* Posted two top-five and 11 top-10 finishes in 2009

“I’m going into São Paulo with a very open mind. None of us are really sure what to expect, it’s a new circuit for everyone but it promises to be a great addition to our schedule. I think it will be a great race for the fans, but my main goal will, obviously, be to finish strong and take as many points as we can for the Venom car. I want to start the season as strong as possible.”

RYAN HUNTER-REAY, #37 TEAM IZOD CAR

* Making his first start for Andretti Autosport after signing with the team over the off-season

* Drove to a runner-up finish in last year’s season opener on the streets of St. Petersburg

I’ve been looking forward to this weekend for a long time for a number of reasons. First, I can’t wait to get to my first IZOD IndyCar race weekend with Andretti Autosport and my new teammates. This team knows how to win and has so much to offer. We all know we have lots of work to do heading into the season, but everyone within the team is very determined to make the most of every opportunity on track. Second, we are starting a new era in IndyCar racing as the IZOD IndyCar Series. It’s an exciting time in the sport and to be kicking of the season in Sao Paulo, Brazil is the perfect way to do it as the Brazilian fans are so passionate about our sport.
“With our limited pre-season testing and a short two-day race weekend in Brazil we are left with a very small window to nail the set-up on Saturday heading into qualifying. We will have to be more aggressive than usual with our approach, but with four Andretti Autosport cars on track we are very optimistic we can make the most of the situation. I just can’t wait to go racing.”

TONY KANAAN, #11 TEAM 7-ELEVEN CAR

* A native of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, he is one of four former IZOD IndyCar Series champions entered in Sunday’s season-opener

* Hoping to replicate last season’s hot start when he stood as the only series driver to record three top-five finishes in first three events of the season

“As a Brazilian getting ready to open the season in Brazil, it is hard to explain the excitement and the pressure that I’m feeling. Our fans in Brazil are so passionate for us and so supportive of us, but they will expect nothing less than a win on Sunday. It’s going to be a challenging circuit, but I’m looking forward to getting in the Team 7-Eleven car and getting the season going.”
